On May 22, South High School will host the District 99 Orchestra for their final concert of the 2012-2013 school year. Parent volunteers are needed, especially to help set up and clean up the reception following the concert.

A big thank-you to everyone who contributed to making last Friday an enjoyable and successful event.

We are very pleased to announce that we raised $1,540 via the Basket Raffle for the District 99 Orchestra instrument fund! That’s significantly higher than last year, when we raised $1,166.

Reminder: Cookie Dough/Popcorn Pick-up on Monday, April 22

Cookie dough and popcorn orders can be picked up in the Downers Grove South Orchestra Room on Monday, April 22 from 2:30 to 6:00 pm.

Time to Get Ready for the District 99 Orchestra Banquet!

Dear Orchestra Families,

Our annual Orchestra Banquet is less than a month away, on Friday, May 3 at North High School. This year we're continuing the Basket Raffle fundraising tradition which supports the ongoing need to replace the school-owned string instruments and bows. (Last year we raised nearly $1,200!)

To make this a success, we need everyone's help collecting and assembling donations to be raffled/auctioned off. Basket ideas include:

• Finals Week Care Package (lots of food and goodies)
• Summer Picnic Package (basket, blanket, candles, etc.)
• Fourth of July theme (anything red, white and blue)
• Other potential themes -- spa essentials, music, pets, fitness, art, entertainment, food, jewelry, etc.

Donations can be made by individual families or a group of people. Single items will also be accepted; we'll assemble them into baskets. Other ways to help:

• Join a team that will solicit donations from local businesses. (Don't worry, we'll provide instructions and coordinate efforts.)
• Come early on the day of the banquet to help set things up. 
• Tap your creative side by helping get donations ready for display.

Four Helpers Needed for Spring Musical Performances

Please let us know if you can help FOFA's fundraising efforts by selling presentation roses at the spring musical performances, Thursday April 18 through Sunday April 21. Four volunteers are needed -- one for each performance.

Plan to arrive 30 minutes early to help manage sales before the show and during intermission (you won't miss the performance!). You'll be partnered with a FOFA board member who can explain more when you arrive.

Did you forget to turn in your order for cookie dough and popcorn? No worries! We've extended the deadline to Thursday, March 22. 

Please help us reach our goal and provide scholarship money for eligible DGS music and visual art students. Each item is $13. Make checks payable to Downers Grove South Fine Arts. Orders can be turned in to the Fine Arts Office, the band or choir mailbox, or to any Fine Arts teacher.

Reminder: “Scholarship Dough” Orders and Applications Due March 19

If you haven't already, please send in your order for our most important fundraiser by Tuesday, March 19. Take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy fresh-baked cookies (the easy way!) AND provide much-appreciated scholarship money that supports eligible Downers Grove South fine arts students seeking help to continue their music or visual art studies.

Each item is $13. Please make checks payable to Downers Grove South Fine Arts. Orders can dropped off at the DGS Fine Arts Office, the band or choir mailbox, or given to one of the Fine Arts teachers.

All orders will be available for pick-up on Monday, April 22, between 2:00 and 6:00 pm in the Orchestra Room.

Student Artists, Vocalists and Musicians

If you are interested in continuing your fine arts studies this summer at a music or art camp, but need financial assistance to attend, please remember to apply for a scholarship from Friends of Fine Arts.
