Helpful Details for 2012 Holiday Concert and Art Show

With the Holiday Concert/Winter Art Show coming up Thursday, December 13th, at DGS, we wanted to share several related reminders.

All FOFA donors are entitled to reserved seating at the concert. Please stop by the FOFA table just inside the gym for your "tickets" to identify you as FOFA Patrons. If you haven't sent in your membership yet, it’s not too late and you’ll still be entitled to reserved seating for this concert. You’ll find our membership form here

CDs of the concert will again be available for purchase. Order forms will be included in your program and also available at the FOFA table. CDs are $15 each and will be delivered in January. Some of our donors will receive a complimentary CD based on their level of giving. If that is the case, you do not need to complete an order form unless you choose to order additional CDs.

Due to everyone's positive response last year, we are again offering gift sets of note cards featuring selected works of art created by our very own DGS visual art students.  They makes great gifts for teachers, grandmothers, aunts, co-workers, etc. Each set includes 6 different designs, priced at $10.00 per set. Already attractively wrapped, they are ready to give to someone special. Please stop by the FOFA table outside the gym to see samples and make a purchase.

Thank you to everyone who purchased poinsettias. To get yours, please stop by the FOFA table inside the gym to pick up a plant sleeve which serves as your "purchase receipt." Once the concert is over, please select a plant(s) to take home.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday. Please enjoy browsing through the abundant display of student art work which opens at 6:00 pm. Then enjoy the concert, featuring the DGS Bands, Choirs, and Orchestras, which follows at 7:00 pm.

Thank you for supporting FOFA. Through your donations and your support of our fundraisers, we are able to make a significant contribution to the Fine Arts at DGS.

Happy Holidays!

FOFA Annual Membership Drive - Please Join Us!

As Friends of Fine Arts (FOFA) embarks on our 15th year, we are pleased and proud of the energy and direction of the organization. If you aren't already familiar with FOFA, we'd like to take a moment to introduce you to our activities and invite you to join us.

What does FOFA do?
FOFA works in collaboration with Band Boosters and Choir Boosters to serve more than 1,700 students who participate in curricular arts programs at South High School. Last year, FOFA supported more than $15,000 in projects which helped ignite a passion for the arts in our musicians and visual artists, including:

Student scholarships - FOFA offers summer study grants in music and visual art and assistance to students requiring financial support to pursue private instruction.

Student fundraising - by organizing various fundraisers, FOFA helps students fund their own accounts and pay for supplies, lessons and school-sponsored trips.

Visiting musicians and artists - FOFA helps expand the boundaries of the classroom by supporting opportunities for students to learn from professional artists.

Equipment - students of the visual and musical arts at South High School benefit from FOFA's purchases of supplemental equipment for fine arts instruction.

Events - FOFA helps organize and provide hospitality support for concerts, art shows and other fine arts events.

How can you help?
Parents can support our efforts in three ways:
1.   Contribute any level of financial assistance by joining FOFA
2.   Provide volunteer assistance at events
3.   Support our various fundraisers held throughout the year

We fully understand the complexities of the current economy and want you to know that your participation, at any level, is valued and enables fulfillment of our vision to ignite a passion for the arts in every learner. Please see our brochure for more information on our organization and to indicate your commitment.

Thanks in advance for your participation on every level. We anticipate another fantastic year in the arts here at South High School.

Artistically yours,
The 2012-2013 FOFA Board
